| RESULTS..... March 2000 Wharfedale Under 11 tournament Bright sunshine greeted teams from Bradford to the tournamnet held at Addingham. Play was fast and competitive but played with excellent spirit, and many new friends were made. Special thanks go to Mrs McLelland who organised the event, ably assisted by members of the senior teams and ex-pupils. |

A great start for
this new side in its first tournament took them right up
to a thrilling final against old rivals Ilkley. The team showed good awareness of space and showed some excellent passing skills. Centre and goal shooters had obviously been training hard and scored some super goals. The large crowd of parents and other players cheered on both teams in a great final. At half time the score was 4 all! Ilkley just got the better of Addinham in the second half to win a deserved victory. |

Under 13 Team (The Senior Side) Addingham vs Burley Middle School Tues 25 March Exclusive Raining GoalsAMS met Burley on a wet and windy night. Playing with the tide in the first half, AMS quickly took control of the game. The weather was dull, but the play was dazzling. Positionally they were excellent, and quick linked passing quickly put pressure onto Burley's defence. The first goal was a few minutes in coming, but it marked the beginning of an impressive performance, and goals became plentiful. Burley are a good team, but each of their build-ups seemed to end in skilful interceptions, and these were quickly followed by counter attacks. Burley had the consolation of three goals, but they saw eighteen go in against them. AMS are an excellent side, and a pleasure to watch. Spectators spoke of the intuition which is building up between players as they anticipate where team-mates will be. But best of all is the spirit in which games like this are played. Despite the weather there was not a groan or moan, not a compaint or dispute from either side. Good sport and good sporting play? We can all learn a lot from this. |
