Pupils in Year 8 have the opportunity to take part in a one week residential field trip to study geology and marine biology on Yorkshire's beautiful east coast.

Cober Hill is a conference and residential centre owned by the Joseph Rowntree trust. It is located in the village of Cloughton, just north of Scarborough. Set in attractive grounds, the hotel is a few minutes walk from the unspoilt shoreline and the famous Cleveland Way long distance footpath.

Finishing touches are made to a rock transect.

Do you know your flora and fauna?

Test yourself. Can you remember the common names for these? Point to the word to find the answer!

Less than 3 correct? You are still in the bucket and spade brigade.

4-6 correct? You have all the makings of a field study guide. You could have your own tv series.

7-9 correct? You have obviously served your time on an AMS field trip. Now go and impress your friends and relatives.
